Police Use LoJack to Quickly Find Stolen Welder in Storage Locker

  • June 21, 2012

When workers arrived at their jobsite on Monday, June 18th, they discovered that their 2006 Lincoln Welder was missing. The owners contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report the stolen construction equipment. The stolen welder’s information was then entered into the NCIC police computer. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack  transponder concealed on the welder. Neither the owners nor law enforcement had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery Network because LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.

A short while later Glendale Police officers began picking up the silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen welder with the LoJack police tracking computers that are installed in the police vehicles. The officers began following the LoJack silent signals and were led to a commercial storage locker.  Officers were able to pin-point which locker the LoJack signal was coming from and executed a search warrant on the locker, recovering the stolen welder. Through good police work officers were able to identify a suspect and an arrest was made.

The LoJack Recovery System was installed in the Lincoln Welder in July 2008.
