LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System Equipped Cadillac Escalade Leads LAPD to Chop Shop

  • September 25, 2012

Many times when law enforcement gets a LoJack “hit” in their cruisers, there’s the possibility that a single stolen vehicle recovery will lead to many more recoveries.

On Tuesday, September 25, 2012, the owner of a 2003 Cadillac Escalade called the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department to report that their vehicle was stolen.  The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Cadillac.  Within an hour, detectives with Los Angeles Police picked up the silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen Cadillac and tracked the signal to a residential garage in the 1600 block of West 53rd Street. Through cracks in the door, they observed the stolen vehicle inside the location.

Detectives obtained a search warrant and entered the location where they recovered the stolen vehicle. After a brief search in the backyard, detectives also recovered a stolen Ford Mustang engine, a Nissan Pathfinder engine, a stripped out Harley Davidson and numerous license plates belonging to stolen vehicles and numerous stolen vehicle parts. Suspects have been identified and 77th Street Detectives are conducting the follow-up investigation.

The LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Cadillac Escalade on January 9, 2004 at Coast Cadillac in Long Beach California.
