LoJack Corporation and the New York City Police Department Work Together to Recover Acura TSX Stolen During Hurricane Sandy

As you may know, Hurricane Sandy inflicted New York City, and many other surrounding areas, with great damage and devastation. Unfortunately, activities such as looting and vehicle theft sometimes get amplified during such times of chaos.
In today’s story, the owner of a 2005 Acura TSX contacted the New York City Police Department in the midst of Hurricane Sandy to report that his vehicle was stolen from where he parks it at his place of employment.
When officers arrived at the scene they took a written report. Unfortunately, the owner reported that he left his car unlocked and left an extra key in the glove compartment. Apparently, someone entered his vehicle and found the extra key. Seizing the opportunity, the suspect took off with the car.
The police entered the vehicle’s information into the NCIC computer, which automatically activated the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System installed on the vehicle. The Police of the Brooklyn South Auto Larceny Unit picked up the silent signal coming from the vehicle on their LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicle. The vehicle was located in the Coney Island section of Brooklyn within the confines of the 60th precinct, the beach area of Brooklyn that was destroyed from the storm.
The owner was notified of the recovery and was elated not only that his vehicle was recovered, but also that it was parked on high ground and did not get destroyed by the flooding in the area. He was grateful to the police and LoJack Corporation that his vehicle was recovered in excellent condition, saying that the LoJack System was a smart investment on his part when he bought the vehicle.
