Baltimore City, Maryland Police Ground and Air Units Recover Stolen Hyundai Sonata Assisted by the LoJack® System

  • May 8, 2013

Morning, noon or night- auto thieves can strike at any time, which is why it makes sense to have the 24/7/365 protection of the LoJack® system installed in your vehicle. In this case, a Baltimore, MD resident has his 2008 Hyundai Sonata stolen at lunchtime.

On May 3rd, 2013, the Sonata’s owners contacted the Baltimore City Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from the Federal Hill area of Baltimore City. Baltimore City PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into their state and federal crime computers. This action automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Hyundai, which was installed at Len Stoler Hyundai in Owings Mills, MD.

A short while later, flight officers from a Baltimore City PD aviation unit picked up the homing signals from the stolen Hyundai on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their helicopter. The flight officers tracked the vehicle to W. Saratoga Street in Baltimore City and informed BCPD ground units, who recovered the unoccupied vehicle. The car was soon returned to its grateful owners.
