(PIC) Three Colorado Law Enforcement Branches Combine to Recover Stolen Dodge Ram Pickup Assisted by the LoJack® System

  • May 24, 2013

One of the great things about the LoJack® system is that its homing signal reaches any LoJack equipped law enforcement entity in the immediate area, so often different branches combine their forces to rapidly recover a stolen car, truck, van or motorcycle.

On May 11th, 2013, the owners of a 2009 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup contacted the El Paso County, Colorado, Sheriff’s Office to report that their truck was stolen from their home. The deputy verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the truck, which was installed at Colorado Springs Dodge in Colorado Springs, CO.

A short while later, officers from three jurisdictions; El Paso County, CO, Sheriff’s Office, Colorado Springs PD and the Colorado State Patrol all picked up the homing signals from the stolen truck with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the Ram to Colorado Springs and stopped the pickup.  There were five persons in the truck and all were detained.  The truck was undamaged and was soon returned to its very happy owners.
