The LoJack® System Helps Arlington, Virginia Police Recover Stolen Honda CBR600RR Motorcycle

We all remember playing ‘Hide and Seek’ when we were young. Crooks like to play a different version of this old favorite- ‘Steal and Hide’. They take someone else’s car, truck, motorcycle or van and store it out of sight- in a garage, under a tarp, or adjacent to an abandoned business or residence- to give the search a chance to cool down before they move or dismantle it. Though these methods keep the vehicle from being seen, they are no match for the LoJack® system, which sends a homing signal to help law enforcement pinpoint the location of the stolen machine even if it can’t be seen.
On April 26, 2013, the owner of a Honda CBR600RR motorcycle contacted the Arlington, VA Police to report that their vehicle was stolen from Courthouse Drive in Arlington. The officer verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into their state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Honda, which was installed at Criswell Powersports in Germantown, MD.
Within a short period of time, officers from the Arlington PD picked up the homing signals from the bike on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the vehicle to Potomac Heights Drive in Arlington. They located the Honda covered by a tarp and hidden behind a dumpster in an apartment complex. The motorcycle was recovered by the police and soon returned to its relieved owner.
