The LoJack® System Helps Orange County, California Auto Theft Task Force Recover BMW 335 Stolen During Test Drive

A customer test driving a BMW 335 at a California dealership liked the car so much that she decided to take it home with her- but didn’t bother buying it first. While the salesperson was making a copy of her ID, she took off, not knowing that there was a LoJack® system concealed inside the car, so local police could track both the car and the thief down in less than two hours.
The salesperson immediately contacted Costa Mesa, CA Police to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle’s information into their state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the vehicle.
A short time later, a detective from the Orange County Auto Theft Task Force and an NICB (National Insurance Crime Bureau) agent both picked up the homing signal from the stolen BMW on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their vehicles. They tracked the BMW to a local gas/fast food outfit in Anaheim. The female suspect was taken into custody and the undamaged 335 was soon returned to the relieved dealership.
