  • April 25, 2014

The owner of a Mercedes Benz E350 was recently the victim of a carjacking and attempted kidnapping in El Cajon, CA.  Luckily, she was able to get away and the thieves took off in her car. The LoJack® system in her vehicle assisted local police in recovering it fast and apprehending a suspect in less than an hour after activation.

On March 22nd, 2014, the owner of the Mercedes contacted the El Cajon Police Department to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the E350, which was installed at Mercedes Benz of San Diego, CA.

Within thirty minutes, deputies from San Diego County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Mercedes was located in a commercial parking lot in Poway.  As deputies approached, a suspect entered the vehicle and attempted to drive away. A traffic stop was initiated and the suspect was detained. The E350 was retrieved and soon returned to its thankful owner.
