LoJack® System Helps San Joaquin Sheriff’s Department Recover Stolen 2006 Toyota Highlander

  • August 18, 2014

The owners of a 2006 Toyota Highlander contacted the Stockton Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from in front of their residence. The owner went outside and started the vehicle to turn the air conditioning on and cool the car off before leaving to go visit friends. When they went back out, the vehicle had been stolen.

The Stockton Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota Highlander.

Less than an hour later, deputies with the San Joaquin Sheriff’s  Department picked up the silent LoJack® homing signals from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack® Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the vehicle to a residential area in the 4100 block of Section Street outside the city of Stockton. The deputies determined the vehicle was hidden in the backyard of a residence.

The deputies made contact with the residents and obtained information on the suspects who dropped off the vehicle and left. The vehicle was intact and did not sustain any damage. Suspect information was forwarded to investigators for follow up in hopes of obtaining a warrant for arrest.

The LoJack®System was installed in the 2006 Toyota Highlander in December 2005.
