LoJack® System Helps Arizona Vehicle Theft Task Force Recover Stolen Nissan Altima

The owners of a 2005 Nissan Altima contacted the Glendale Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen sometime overnight from their residence.
The Glendale PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan.
Twenty minutes later, deputies from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Nissan with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Nissan to the area of 67th Avenue and Peoria Avenue in Peoria.
Additional units from the Arizona Highway Patrol, Peoria Police Department and the Arizona Vehicle Theft Task Force, responded to the area and assisted in the tracking and locating of the stolen Nissan in the parking lot of a strip mall, parked behind a fast food restaurant. One suspect was found sleeping in the stolen Nissan. Officers detained and arrested the male suspect without incident. The auto theft detectives took disposition of the recovery and arrest. The suspect admitted to stealing the Nissan after finding a spare key in the glovebox. During the search of the Nissan, detectives found stolen property to several other victims. The stolen property found in the Nissan was tracked to seven different vehicle burglaries from the previous night. The suspect was booked on several felony charges. The stolen Nissan was returned to the owners in good condition.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Nissan Altima in September 2004 at Peoria Nissan in Arizona.
