LoJack® System Helps Albuquerque Police Department Recover a Stolen Chevrolet Corvette Z06

  • May 25, 2016

The owner of a 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 was out of town and his son stopped by to check on the residence when he found it had been burglarized. The son also found that his dad’s Corvette was stolen from the garage. The son called the Albuquerque Police Department to report the residential burglary and the stolen Corvette. The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Corvette.

Approximately 35 minutes after the activation, a vehicle equipped with a LoJack Police Tracking Computer picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Corvette. Following the audible and directional cues from the PTC, the Corvette was tracked and found in an apartment complex parking lot. Officers with the Albuquerque PD observed the Corvette backed into a covered parking space and unoccupied. The Corvette was subsequently towed for safekeeping to be returned to the owner when he returns to town.
